Garner Optimist Abe Wade Scholarships

Every year the Garner Optimist Club awards scholarships to deserving high school students on their way to pursue their post secondary degrees.

The members of the Garner Optimist Club are pleased to bestow scholarships to worthy candidates who have accomplished the necessary life and scholastic skills to further pursue their undergraduate studies.

Applications are due by April 14, 2025 to be considered.

Scholarships are presented in honor of Abe Wade, a 1966 Charter member whose dedication and commitment to the Garner community provided the framework by which this honor is granted.

Applicants MUST provide the following:

1. Completed Application

2. Grade transcripts with a minimum grade point average of 3.00 (un-weighted)

3. Copies of your (SAT) & (CAT) score report

4. Participation in the community and school activities and completion of the personal statement

5. Acceptance Letter to a 2 or 4 year institution of higher learning

6. Recommendation form (2 must be included)

Complete application and return it, along with the recommendations, to the Senior Guidance

Counselor by April 15, 2024 or mail them directly to:

Award Dinner will be May 5, 2025 at 7pm.

In June we awarded nine $1000 scholarships.
